Due to Colorado's notoriously unpredictable weather, decisions about recess are made day-by-day and hour-by-hour, as conditions can change rapidly.
Here are the primary factors we consider:
Temperature: In most cases, we will hold recess outside when the air temperature and wind chill are above 20 degrees.
Surface Safety: The blacktop must be cleared of snow and ice to ensure a safe play area.
Precipitation: We will move indoors for rain, sleet, or heavy, wet snow.
Your child's preparedness is vital! Please ensure students come to school prepared for any weather with appropriate gear (coats, hats, gloves, snow pants, etc.). This allows them to enjoy the fresh air and physical activity whenever the weather permits. An extra change of clothes/shoes in their backpack is always a good idea.
We will not make exceptions for individual students to stay inside.
